WHERE YOU STAND
At the player's HEAD (PEAP orange mark). Hands stay on the head until the neck is cleared or fully immobilised.
WHAT YOU BRING
Laryngeal mask airway (i-gel) and bag-valve with reservoir.
WHAT YOU DO
Trauma: hold the head in line with both hands and talk to the player. Jaw thrust only if you are experienced.
Cardiac arrest: once compressions and the AED are running, insert the i-gel and attach the bag valve.
Squeeze the bag ONCE EVERY 10 COMPRESSIONS. If the i-gel leaks, or you only have a face mask: pause for 30:2.
Control the log roll from the head — you give the count.
WHAT YOU SAY
If it is not your colour, do not reach in.
On the PEAP poster: Trauma: immobilise the cervical spine. Cardiac arrest: insert the laryngeal mask airway, attach the bag valve, squeeze the bag once every 10 compressions.
FROM FIFA'S ROLE CARD — SUMMARY
The person at the head of the player.
In trauma
Immobilise the cervical spine (jaw thrust at the same time if needed).
Speak to the player to reassure them and explain what is happening.
In a log roll
Take the head.
Take the lead: give clear instructions and ask each member to confirm they understood.
In cardiac arrest
Initial airway-opening manoeuvres.
Insert the LMA and attach the bag/valve.
One ventilation every ten compressions with the LMA.
Face mask instead of LMA: apply and hold the mask; the compressor gives 2 breaths after every 30.
